
Kim Surratt

Kim Surratt began her legal career in 2002 and founded her own practice in 2007, licensed in Nevada and California. She entered Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) law in 2004 with her first surrogacy case. A Fellow of the Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproduction Attorneys, Kim has served two terms on its Board of Trustees and currently serves as Deputy to the President. She has also chaired the State Bar of Nevada Family Law Section and led the Nevada Justice Association.
Kim’s pro bono work since 2003 has driven significant legislative reforms in Nevada, including the Domestic Partnership law, gender-neutral statutes, and groundbreaking surrogacy and reproductive law reforms. Notably, she helped establish the nation’s first surrogacy insurance mandate, setting a precedent for future advocacy. She co-founded the Insurance Access and Equity Alliance, advancing surrogacy insurance reform in California.
Her dedication has earned multiple awards, such as the Nevada Legal Services Champion of Justice, Planned Parenthood Votes Nevada award, and the National LGBT Bar Association’s Family Law Practitioner of the Year. Her firm has won the Nevada Legal Services Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year six times. Kim’s pioneering work has influenced legal professionals worldwide, helping thousands of families navigate reproductive law.
