Melissa B. Brisman graduated valedictorian from the Wharton School and earned her law degree from Harvard. She is licensed to practice in CT, MA, NJ, NY, PA, and TX. Since 1996, she has concentrated in assisted reproductive law, guiding intended parents through gestational surrogacy and egg, sperm, and embryo donation. She was her own first client, becoming a mother through surrogacy.

A recognized authority in the field, Melissa has secured groundbreaking court orders nationwide establishing legal parentage, including for same-sex couples, and played a key role in passing the NJ Gestational Carrier Act (2018) and NY’s Child-Parent Security Act (2021). She has won landmark cases before the Massachusetts and New York Supreme Courts.

Melissa frequently speaks at leading reproductive medicine conferences, contributes to major publications, and advises organizations and governments—including Taiwan—on surrogacy legislation. Her firm manages all aspects of reproductive law, including contracts and parentage orders, and she has received numerous awards for her advocacy and leadership.
