Bruce Hale is a solo practitioner in the Boston, Massachusetts area.  His practice, Modern Family Law, is focused exclusively on matters related to assisted procreation.  Before focusing on this area of law, Bruce became a parent through assisted procreation (specifically, gestational surrogacy with egg donation).  His website is www.modernfamily.law.

In addition to his law practice, Bruce serves as an adjunct professor of law at Northeastern University School of Law.  He primarily teaches Family Law, but has also created and taught courses on the law of assisted procreation, and parentage law.

Bruce is the co-author of Assisted Reproductive Technology: A Lawyer’s Guide to Emerging Law and Science, Third Edition (ABA 2018), and Family Law Across Borders (West Academic, 2021).

Bruce is licensed in Massachusetts, and is a member of the American Bar Association’s Family Law Section, the International Academy of Family Lawyers, the National LGBTQ Bar Association’s Family Law Institute, the Society for Ethics in Egg Donation and Surrogacy, and the Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproduction Attorneys.
