Catelyn Slattery is a Fellow of the Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproduction Attorneys (AAAA) and a member of the Maryland, Virginia, and District of Columbia bars. She has extensive experience representing birth parents and adoptive parents across all three jurisdictions, with a practice focused on family building, estate matters, and children’s rights. A native Washingtonian, Catelyn is widely regarded as one of the leading adoption attorneys in the region and has significant experience handling LGBTQ+ cases involving stepparent, second-parent, and parentage matters.

Catelyn earned her B.A. in English Literature from Denison University and her J.D. from New England School of Law, where she concentrated on family law and children’s rights. During law school, she received a mediation award and a CALI Award for Trial Practice, helped found the Education Law and Policy Association, and was active in the Family Law and Children’s Law Societies. She also worked as a law clerk at Children’s Legal Services in Boston, advocating for children in foster care, including participation in IEP meetings, court investigations, and hearings involving termination of parental rights.

Passionate about ensuring every child has a safe and stable home, Catelyn also provides pro bono divorce representation through the Montgomery County Bar Foundation.
