Melissa Neckers is an attorney at Miller Johnson in the Grand Rapids office. She has been practicing law for 27 years and her practice focuses exclusively on assisted reproduction and surrogacy. Ms. Neckers drafts and reviews agreements related to surrogacy, embryo donation, sperm donation and egg donation. She helps clients comply with the laws of Michigan and the requirements of fertility centers. Ms. Neckers also helps clients establish parental rights once pregnancy occurs. Ms. Neckers has been on the frontlines of helping change the Michigan surrogacy law and the newly enacted Assisted Reproduction and Surrogacy Parentage Act is regarded as one of the most surrogacy friendly assisted reproduction statutes in the country. Ms. Neckers received her law degree from Marquette University Law School in 1998 and her B.A. degree from Hope College in 1995.
